TANK CITY
Classic arcade tank battles, rebuilt in 3D on the streets of a city.
Enemy tanks are rolling into the city, and only your tank stands between them and headquarters. TANK CITY is an arcade tank battle in the spirit of the 8-bit tank games many of us grew up with, rebuilt in 3D: brick walls crumble under your shells, concrete blocks stop them cold, parks hide tanks under the trees and canals block the road. Destroy all 20 enemy tanks in each district to move on, grab the power-ups dropped by flashing red tanks, and never let a shell reach the golden star of your HQ. It plays in any modern browser – alone or with a friend on the same keyboard – with keyboard, gamepad or touch controls.

Gamepads work too (A fires, B jumps). Before each game you pick EASY, MEDIUM or HARD, and in OPTIONS you can start with 3, 5 or 10 lives and turn the sound on or off.
Choose your tank
- STRIKER – the balanced all-rounder: medium speed, takes 2 hits, normal shells. A good first pick.
- RAPTOR – the fastest tank on the map, but one hit destroys it. For players who like to dodge.
- TITAN – heavy armour that takes 4 hits, but slow and with slower shells. Great for guarding the HQ.
- INFERNO – firepower: very fast shells and two in the air at once from the start, takes 2 hits.
- Before every game – each player chooses a tank (player 1 gold, player 2 blue). Star power-ups still make any tank stronger: faster shells, an extra shell, then shells that smash concrete.
- The enemy – basic tanks (100 points), fast tanks (200), power tanks with fast shells (300) and armoured tanks that take four hits (400). Flashing red tanks drop items.
All 10 stages
Stage 1: Downtown
Rows of brick blocks and a small park in the middle. Learn to shoot your way through walls.
Stage 2: Riverside
Two rivers cross the city at sunset. Tanks can't drive on water, but shells fly right over it.
Stage 3: Central Park
Night falls over a park full of trees – enemy tanks can hide under the leaves.
Stage 4: Steel Yard
Concrete everywhere. Normal shells can't break it, so collect stars before you try.
Stage 5: Canal Street
Canals and narrow crossings; fast tanks start to come in numbers.
Stage 6: Old Fort
A brick fortress with half-walls. Open firing lanes carefully.
Stage 7: Crossroads
A green cross of trees in the middle of a busy junction.
Stage 8: Harbor Islands
Islands linked by narrow paths, with armored tanks guarding the water.
Stage 9: Zigzag Alley
Long walls push the enemy into zigzag routes towards your base.
Stage 10: City Hall
The final battle in a storm: concrete towers, many armored tanks and no room for mistakes.
Tips and tricks
- Your HQ is the real target. When many enemies are on the map, stay close to it and stop anything heading straight down.
- Shells cancel each other out – fire back at an incoming shell to block it.
- Each shot removes half a block of bricks. Open small gaps to shoot through, but don't tear down the walls around your own HQ – your shells can destroy it too.
- Flashing red tanks carry power-ups. Hit one, then grab the icon before it disappears.
- The shovel turns the walls around your HQ into concrete for 18 seconds – the safest time to go hunting.
- The clock freezes every enemy for 10 seconds, and the grenade destroys every enemy tank on the map.
- Trees hide you from view, but enemy shells still hit you there.
- Press C to switch between the 3D view and a top-down view.

Yes. It is free to play in your browser with no download and no sign-up. The site is supported by ads shown below the game, never during play.
Which tank should I choose?
Start with STRIKER. Pick TITAN if you keep losing lives, RAPTOR if you like speed, and INFERNO to destroy enemies fastest.
Can two people play?
Yes. Choose 2 PLAYERS: player 1 drives with W A S D and fires with Space, player 2 uses the arrow keys and Enter – or connect two gamepads.
Is this the old Battle City / Tank 1990 game?
No. TANK CITY is an original game inspired by those classic arcade tank games, with its own maps, 3D graphics and sounds.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. Drag on the left side of the screen to drive and tap FIRE on the right. Landscape mode works best.
Who made the 3D models?
The tanks come from the free Animated Tanks pack and the city from the Downtown City MegaKit, both by Quaternius (CC0). The sounds are original.
