TANK CITY Guide: Best Tank, Power-ups and Tips for All 10 Stages

TANK CITY is a free 3D tank battle in the spirit of the classic Battle City (Tank 1990) arcade game. You defend your headquarters – the golden star – against 20 enemy tanks per stage. This guide explains which tank to pick, how the power-ups work and how to get through all ten stages.

1. Choose the right tank

STRIKER – balanced speed, armour (2 hits) and firepower. The best tank to learn the game with.
RAPTOR – the fastest tank, but one hit destroys it. Great for dodging and grabbing items first.
TITAN – takes four hits but is slow. Pick it if you keep losing lives or want to guard the HQ.
INFERNO – very fast shells and two in the air at once from the start. The quickest way to clear a stage.

2. Power-ups

Star – faster shells, then an extra shell, then shells that break concrete. You keep stars until you lose a life.
Helmet – a shield for 10 seconds.
Grenade – destroys every enemy tank on the map.
Clock – freezes all enemies for 10 seconds.
Shovel – the walls around your HQ become concrete for 18 seconds.
Tank – an extra life.

Flashing red tanks drop an item when hit, any destroyed enemy may drop one, and items also appear on their own – but each disappears after about 16 seconds.

3. Know the enemy

Basic tanks are slow (100 points), fast tanks rush across the map (200), power tanks fire very fast shells (300) and armoured tanks need four hits (400) – they smoke and burn as they weaken.

4. Tips for every stage

Downtown, Riverside – learn to shoot gaps in brick walls; shells fly over water, tanks can't drive on it.
Central Park – enemies hide under the trees at night. Watch for shells coming out of the leaves.
Steel Yard, City Hall – collect stars before attacking: only level-3 shells break concrete.
Canal Street, Harbor Islands – narrow crossings: block one and let enemies come to you.
Old Fort, Zigzag Alley – enemies arrive from unexpected angles; stay close to the HQ.

5. Playing with a friend

In 2-player mode one player can guard the HQ while the other hunts and collects items. Be careful: a shell from your partner freezes you for three seconds. Your best score goes into the world TOP 10 at the end of the game.
