Halo Infinite Review: Score, Pros and Cons (2021)
Halo Infinite, released in 2021, moved the series into a larger open-world ring. Its campaign introduced a grappling hook and more open exploration, and its multiplayer returned to the classic formula with new free-to-play modes.
What works
- Gunplay and movement feel classic and responsive.
- The grappling hook opens up creative approaches to fights.
- Free-to-play multiplayer lowers the cost of entry.
What does not
- The open world can feel empty in places, and missions repeat objectives.
- Some multiplayer features were added after launch, which made the first months uneven.

Verdict
A capable Halo game that is strongest when the core shooting takes over. Our score: 7.5 out of 10.
Tips for the grappling hook
The grappling hook is most useful for closing distance quickly, escaping danger and reaching high points. Practise pulling yourself toward enemies and vehicles, and use it to jump onto ledges that would otherwise need a long route. Combined with the classic weapon set, it lets you choose between a fast approach and a careful one.
Exploring the open world
The open map hides collectibles and optional activities. Take time to visit outposts and bases, because many of them offer weapons and vehicles that make later missions easier. Keep a few vehicles ready near key areas so you can move between objectives faster.
