Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Review: Score and Verdict (2024)
Black Ops 6, released in 2024, is set in the 1990s and follows a covert unit during a period of global tension. It returns to the Black Ops name with a campaign that offers open-ended missions and a multiplayer built around fast-paced maps.
What works
- The campaign has varied missions and an open structure in some sections.
- Multiplayer maps are well designed and offer clear lanes and close fights.
What does not
- Some players found the progression and monetisation intrusive.
- The story is less focused than the strongest series entries.

Verdict
A polished shooter that is held back by its progression systems. Our score: 7.5 out of 10.
Tips for the campaign and co-op
Black Ops 6 includes sections with more freedom than earlier campaigns. Take time to explore, check the mission objectives on the map, and try different approaches when a section feels hard. In co-op, split roles clearly, such as one player leading and another covering, so the team does not run into fights unprepared.
Progression and value
Unlocks and bundles change how quickly you can access new weapons and cosmetics. Play for the experience first, and treat optional purchases as extras. The game gives plenty of content through its normal progression, so there is no need to rush or spend money to enjoy it.
