Borderlands 3 Review: Score and Verdict (2019)
Borderlands 3, released in 2019, expands the series across several planets with four Vault Hunters. It keeps the loot and humour of the earlier games and adds new vehicles and a larger world.
What works
- Vault Hunters have distinct skills and playstyles.
- Weapons and loot remain satisfying to collect.
What does not
- Some planets feel repetitive, and online matchmaking had problems at launch.

Tips for choosing a Vault Hunter
Each Vault Hunter has a unique skill tree and playstyle. Try a few in the early hours to see which suits you, and remember that you can change to another character later. A balanced team with a healer, a damage dealer and a tank handles the tougher encounters more easily.
Exploring the planets
The planets are large and full of side missions. Visit the areas you have not explored, because they often give access to weapons and vehicles. Fast travel points help you move between regions quickly, which makes returning to missions less tiring.
