Verdict

A landmark console shooter with excellent multiplayer for its time. Our score: 9.0 out of 10.

Tips for the missions

Many missions can be completed in more than one way. Stealth reduces the number of enemies you face, but some objectives are easier with a loud approach. Use the environment, such as doors and cover, to control the pace. Replay a mission on a higher difficulty to see how the level layout changes the challenge.

Multiplayer memories

The split-screen multiplayer became a memory for many players. Custom rules, weapon choices and simple maps made every match different. Playing with friends on original hardware or a modern re-release is still a strong way to experience the game.
