Donkey Kong Famicom review
8/10
Jumpman climbs construction girders to rescue Pauline from a giant ape, the game that launched Mario.
Donkey Kong asks you to climb girders and ladders while dodging barrels. Each stage raises the pressure, and the simple goal of reaching the top gives the game a clean sense of purpose.
The Famicom version keeps the core of the arcade original. Its tight jumps and rising speed still make each attempt feel like a fair test of nerve.
Pros
- Simple, tense goal
- Fair jumps and timing
- Important history
Cons
- Repetitive stages
- Short length
