Blaster Master Famicom review

1988 · Sunsoft · Action-adventure · Updated 2026-10-22

8.5/10

A tank and a pilot explore a mutant world in one of the Famicom's best hybrid adventures.

Blaster Master switches between a tank in side view and a pilot on foot in top-down exploration. The tank can climb walls and has upgradable weapons, while the pilot explores caves and buildings.

The world is large and rewards exploration. The bosses are inventive and the atmosphere is memorable.

It is one of the best examples of mixing genres on the console, and it still holds up well.
